Assalamualaikum...
Bismillahirahmanirahim...
For the past few days I was trying my best to make myself busy..(warghh..dilemma as project-based student..loads of free time but don't know what to do!..-,-)..Soooo...I decided to attend a few classes (academic and non-academic) just to occupy my free time..Let me share you a short journey of what I have gained from the classes...^_^
1. Malaysia and Lahad Datu (Wednesday, 13 March 2013)
Recently Malaysia has been shocked by the tragedy in Sabah and to be more specific, Lahad Datu..So on that day, my university invited two speakers, one from UMS itself and the other is from UTMKL..both of them were talking about Sabah and Sulu, the historical issues and international maritime..
What causes the Lahad Datu's Tragedy?both of the speakers justify the facts and figures in which I am pretty sure that I have lost in space..huhu...(talking about history class?yeahh...I am no good with that..)
But my point here is that we have to remember who we are, what we made from, and what creates us...So in Lahad Datu's tragedy, it opens the eyes of the mass in regards to the importance of history, documentation and nationality..Surely one cannot claim the land is theirs if there are no prove..this is where the historical legal documents are needed.."Those who forget history tends to repeats them"...history is very close to us, muslim...we have what we call 'sirah'..and indeed Quran is the best reference when it comes to history..don't Allah always repeats in His words on how human were created?..human are made from semen(sperm) and earth..to those who understands this, how can we be so arrogant to Allah?we are nothing more than a mixture of sperm and earth, placed in women' womb to grow and be kept safe..aren't we should be thankful?
So indeed history is everything...it is where we know our roots...our originality..without history, we are nobody...(headshot!..=,=)...when we know history, and better, our own history...we make extra caution when we plan for our next step..we are more mature because we know that we had sacrificed something in the past in order to gain something better in future..we won't want our sacrifices come to waste won't we?
What can we learn from history?tons!...so never ever fall asleep during history class or sirah class..=,=!..those whomever forget their history will tend to repeat them....keep that in mind my fellow friends..^_^
2. Mutiara Sri Kandi part 1 ( Women' rights before marriage ) Friday, 15 March 2013
I allocate one and a half hour during Jum'ah prayer time to attend this short 'munakahad' class conducted by Islamic center at my uni...Alhamdulillah, even though I am not feeling too well on that day, Allah has eased my way to attend the class...my intention is one, I want to be prepared...prepared for what?you know the answer...^_^..
Alhamdulillah, after I finished reading Sebelum Aku Bernikah by Hilal Asyraf, it feels like "This time I want to be prepared..not just some bidan terjun!..wedding in Islam is more than just combining two different genders in one house...the 'akad' carries HUGE responsibility.." So why not prepare now?!
Briefly, the content of the talk is divided into two parts...1. The right to say yes and no and 2.The Wali..
Now, Islam gives the voice to the women to either agree or disagree with the choice of their parents..this is what we call diplomacy..discuss and make mutual agreement...so that nobody is hurt..Though the father of the woman has the right to accept any guy as his son-in-law but the woman still has the voice to speak out her opinion...
The second part is wali...I bet most of us understand the meaning of wali but the complicated part is the 'wali-chain' (aturan keutamaan wali)...why wali is so important in Islam?because we want to protect the nasab (susur galur keturunan)...in most cases, those who were born before marriage or adopted child will face the problem with wali..(the explanation on wali is too long for this entry, so please do refer to other source or surah an-nisa')
---- Conclusion, "Fall in love not fall into love"...get the blessing from your parents and monitor your degree of love!
Sincerely,
M.
